While researching the SDD, I have researched a number of coal mines in West
Virginia. Below is a list of mines within the three sub-districts of the SDD and
on the mainline or a branch line. Links to my research about specific mines
where applicable. The tables below are based on the information complied from
Norfolk Southern Corp. web site, Norfolk Southern Track charts, my personal
observations, Frograil web site, and the Coal Camp USA web site.
Interestingly there are conflicts in the data. Specifically the NS Corp.
web site and the NS Track charts disagree on the station names.
