The Norfolk Terminal extends eastward from Gilmerton (mile 8) to Bridge #7, South Norfolk, and into Portlock yard. Just
north (eastbound) of Portlock yard, at South Norfolk, the Sewells Point Branch splits from the
Lambert's Point Branch and uses the old Virginian mainline to Norfolk International Terminal, a
large container port. The Lambert's Point Branch continues to its name sake
where the world's largest coal transloading facility, NS coal pier #6, is
located.
